Supermarket giant Lidl announced a plan to begin labelling all of its fresh meat products with its own standards for animal welfare and environmental impacts – a key request of the Greenpeace campaign. The retailer agreed that it will bring more transparency for consumers about the meat production standards of tis supplies and start to phase out the companies with the worst production practices, all in an effort to establish concrete steps towards better meat production.

With over 500 volunteer activities in front of Lidl markets all over Germany over the course of nine months, Lidl Germany announced that they will label their entire range of fresh meat products the same way they label their fresh eggs to convey new standards to consumers. The labelling will begin to go into effect April 2018.
